A discussion with

Emma Harvey

As we continue through the Carona Virus lockdown it’s great to hear about businesses who are turning into help mode and providing invaluable advice and support.

One such person is Emma Harvey who has set up and run 6 complimentary webinars to date. Emma owns Candid HR, a Strong, Commercially Focused HR Support company that can help you achieve your business goals through correct HR management.

Setting the scene

We had arranged to meet on Zoom so I sat at my makeshift home office desk and at 1pm Emma came online ready to talk webinars and support.

The following is a summary of the discussion we had. I’m sure you’ll find this of interest, I did.

Hi Emma,

Why did you decide to help businesses with webinars?

It’s important to be in help mode, the coronavirus has lead to new legislation being implemented and many businesses don’t have access to HR support.

To help them navigate this, I felt it was important for people and businesses like Candid HR to help as much as they could. In addition to this, it was an opportunity to help with subjects such as mental health and wellbeing plus continuity planning as I knew these were all concerns that business owners had.

How did you go about setting up your webinars?

To be honest, I hadn’t run any webinars before and I was nervous about doing them but with support from my VA and my team, they helped me set it up on zoom and also to helped generate interest on Social media.

So you used Zoom, was that a particular version of it?

I used the paid version of zoom which gave the functionality I needed and was straight forward to use.

What were your main ways of promoting the webinars?

We decided to spread the word through Linkedin and other social media platforms such as our Facebook page and Instagram. We also had some partners which were also involved with the webinars who contacted their networks.

Do you think it’s been worth doing Emma?

Definitely, I feel whilst we are genuinely not in it to promote because we are in giving mode our profile has been raised and it has lead to some new enquiries which is great.

Would you recommend both giving support and using webinars as a means of helping people?

Definitely, it’s at times like this we really need to help each other and if any business can help others get through our current situation I feel it can only be a good thing.
